THE CHARACTERS MATTER
One display needs context.
Copy every character from the scanner. Do not replace letters with similar-looking numbers or discard the reporting module.
Code families in this library
- P — Powertrain. Engine, transmission and powertrain diagnostic references. Exact vehicle and module context still matters. Browse references
- B — Body. Body-system diagnostic references. Confirm the reporting module and vehicle-specific definition. Browse references
- C — Chassis. Chassis-system diagnostic references. Read the vehicle warnings before deciding whether to continue. Browse references
- U — Network. Communication and network diagnostic references. A communication code does not identify a failed module by itself. Browse references
Generic and manufacturer-labelled references
A generic entry is stored once. Manufacturer-labelled entries preserve the labels and scope of their source. Neither kind of entry alone establishes compatibility with a particular model, year, engine or market.
Suffixes and native displays
A scanner can include extra characters or a manufacturer-native display. The code finder can locate a recognized base code, but its lookup is not a verification of the suffix or module-specific meaning. If the full display has no match, consult the exact vehicle documentation.
A definition is not a failed-part verdict
A reference describes a reported condition. Use the documented diagnostic procedure before treating it as evidence that a particular component needs replacement.
