P0262: Cylinder 1 injector short-to-power feedback when commanded on
P0262 explained through the documented GM monitor: cylinder 1 injector short-to-power feedback when commanded on. Diagnostic distinctions, verification and applicability limits.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG03A ECM monitor at the cited physical PDF pages only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability is not established by the file-level application matrix.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0262 represents a high fault on the cylinder 1 injector circuit. The cited GM direct-injection strategy checks the low-side driver for short-to-power behavior while the output is on. It is an electrical-feedback monitor, not a direct measurement of fuel delivered by the injector.
What is clear in the table
The controller compares voltage feedback with its internal acceptable range. Battery voltage must be at least 11 volts, and P062B status must allow the test. Ten failures out of twenty observations at 100 milliseconds each produce the documented Type A, one-trip result.
The on-state requirement matters. A high value captured with the driver off is not automatically equivalent to the failure the controller evaluates here. Retaining command state alongside feedback helps avoid that mistake.
A numeric specification needs review
The threshold cell mixes an amperage figure with malformed inequality wording even though the strategy describes voltage feedback. This article does not interpret that text as a verified current test limit or an instruction to apply current to the circuit.
Use the applicable controller procedure for the actual electrical limits and approved test method. The code narrows the investigation to cylinder 1's driver path but does not prove the injector or controller is defective. Verify a completed on-state electrical monitor after diagnosis; physical fuel or driver work should follow the vehicle-specific professional procedure.
Source and applicability
This explanation is limited to the 2025 GM 25OBDG03A monitor on page 227. Its thresholds are calibration examples, not universal specifications. Confirm the vehicle, engine and controller procedure before applying them.
