Documented application
2009 General Motors diagnostic parameter file 09OBDG01 DURAMAX Engine Diagnostics.pdf. Section-specific modules and calibrations; no per-code model or engine applicability established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P02E7 identifies an in-range position disagreement for the diesel throttle-valve actuator in GM's 2009 Duramax summary. The sensor may still produce an electrically plausible signal, yet that reported position can fail to follow the controller's target.
Compare target and response together
The documented strategy compares desired and actual valve position. It describes a deviation of approximately three percentage points in either direction, sustained for ten seconds during actuator operation. The exact source notation is calibration-specific; it is not a universal mechanical adjustment tolerance.
A snapshot of actual position alone cannot reproduce that comparison. The desired position and the duration of disagreement provide the missing context. A valve parked at one position after the event may look ordinary even though it previously failed the target-following test.
Companion circuit faults change the interpretation
The monitor is inhibited by specified actuator, position-sensor and reference-voltage faults. Those faults can invalidate the inputs needed for a performance judgment. The absence of a new P02E7 while an inhibiting fault remains is therefore not proof that the actuator now follows its target.
Use the relevant service procedure to distinguish signal accuracy, electrical control and physical response. The summary does not supply a component replacement decision. Verification should show credible desired-versus-actual tracking and a completed performance monitor after related faults have been addressed, rather than rely on an erased code or a single stationary reading.
