P0348: A high bank 2 intake-cam input is diagnosed when edges disappear

P0348 combines missing camshaft edges with a persistently high input while a valid crankshaft rotation reference remains available.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2, specific documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability require confirmation; application-matrix filename join is unresolved.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0348 is the high-circuit code for the bank 2 intake camshaft sensor. In the cited GM monitor, “high” is not an advanced cam angle. It describes the electrical level retained when the controller stops receiving new cam edges.

A no-edge state with a high level

The controller observes at least four crankshaft revolutions and checks that the cam signal is permanently high as it transitions into the no-signal state. Ignition must be on, the crank gap pattern must be detected, and backward engine rotation must be absent.

These conditions distinguish a missing-edge fault from a static high level when the engine is not rotating. They also distinguish it from a correlation error, where usable signals are present but their timing relationship is wrong.

Use both signals to interpret the event

Preserve the crankshaft reference and the bank 2 intake-cam trace together. A high reading without proof of qualifying rotation cannot reproduce the monitor logic, while a cam waveform containing valid transitions would raise a different question.

The source specifies one-trip reporting and points to other enable and inhibit conditions. It does not locate the high condition within the sensor, supply, harness or controller input. That requires the matching circuit procedure and channel identification. The code alone therefore supports investigation of a no-edge high-input event, not automatic replacement of the cam sensor or timing components.

Source and applicability

This explanation covers the cited GM monitor, not every vehicle carrying this code. The application-matrix filename does not resolve cleanly to this file, so no model or engine fitment is assigned. GM diagnostic table, PDF page 590.
