P0533: A/C pressure feedback is near the high electrical limit

The 2015 GM L20 P0533 monitor checks pressure-sensor voltage near the reference rail and does not independently prove excessive refrigerant pressure.

Documented application

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0533 is the high-voltage branch for the A/C refrigerant-pressure sensor in the cited GM 4.8L/L20 table. The monitored value is sensor voltage divided by the five-volt reference; a value above the high fraction triggers the electrical diagnosis after the specified persistence requirement.

Do not substitute a pressure conclusion

A high electrical reading is not the same evidence as a verified high-side gauge pressure. The code does not establish overcharging, a restricted refrigerant line or a failed compressor. Those conclusions require their own measurements and the vehicle-specific diagnostic procedure.

The table pairs this branch with P0532 for low voltage. A technician should retain which branch occurred and whether the input was persistently high or intermittent, rather than summarize both as an unspecified A/C fault.

The monitor depends on configured equipment

GM includes enable and pressure-sensor presence conditions, with configuration learned through the body controller. An unsupported or incomplete configuration check can affect whether the monitor evaluates the signal. This is why absence of a returning code immediately after memory work is not automatically proof of a sound sensor.

The published row counts repeated failed samples. A trace showing the high state and the relevant operating configuration is more informative than one isolated screenshot.

Confirm circuit integrity with the correct diagram before choosing a sensor or controller replacement. The summary supplies no approved procedure for venting refrigerant or bypassing pressure protection, and P0533 is not justification for either action.
