Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG03A ECM monitor at the cited physical PDF pages only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability is not established by the file-level application matrix.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0563 reports excessive system voltage. The cited GM engine-controller row uses a battery-voltage boundary at or above eighteen volts, with run/crank voltage above five volts and the high-voltage diagnostic enabled. This is the vehicle's 12-volt system monitor, not a high-voltage traction-battery diagnosis.
A sampled event, not a component verdict
The controller requires 400 failures in 500 samples taken every 12.5 milliseconds. Its result reflects a qualifying observation window. A normal current voltage does not exclude an earlier overvoltage episode, and the stored code alone cannot identify the source.
Preserve when the fault occurred and compare the controller's voltage with an approved independent electrical measurement when the vehicle procedure calls for it. That separates a real supply event from uncertainty in the measurement path. The table does not prescribe an alternator, battery or controller replacement.
Reporting and verification
The row is Type C, one-trip, emissions neutral and makes no emissions malfunction-lamp request. An unlit engine warning lamp therefore does not establish that this voltage fault is absent.
Verification should confirm the actual 12-volt supply remains within the vehicle's specified operating range and that the eligible ECM high-voltage test passes. Do not use this article's eighteen-volt failure boundary as a target charging voltage or a general permission to operate near it. Other modules and calibrations can use different voltage criteria.
Source and applicability
This explanation is limited to the 2025 GM 25OBDG03A monitor on page 332. Its thresholds are calibration examples, not universal specifications. Confirm the vehicle, engine and controller procedure before applying them.
