The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P063D identifies generator voltage-sense circuit A high. Mazda's M Hybrid ISG compares two internal measurements of the same supply terminal before classifying the high-input fault.

Two different voltage quantities

The documented conditions include an absolute difference of at least 5 V between the main microcomputer's measured supply and the stator-driver control IC's measurement, together with an internal input signal of at least 4.9 V. The determination period is half a second and the stator driver must otherwise be normal.

The 4.9 V value is a sensing-signal limit, not the generator's normal operating supply. Confusing these quantities could lead to a completely wrong external charging-system test. The disagreement establishes why the controller distrusts the measurement, rather than directly proving an actual supply overvoltage.

Current and historical faults are separated

Mazda lists an ISG malfunction, then checks whether the DTC is present, repeats an ignition-state check and assesses recurrence using recorded conditions. It also recognizes communication noise as a possible contributor to a displayed record.

The response removes hybrid supply and relies on the 12-volt battery while inhibiting i-stop, regeneration and assistance. Continued operation can deplete that battery. Internal ISG measurements require the exact professional procedure; the article's values are monitor criteria, not instructions for opening or probing the generator. Retain both module status and snapshot evidence before a replacement decision.
