P06A8: Sensor reference C needs its own circuit identification
Ford diesel P06A8 evaluates sensor supply three, so a healthy reading on another reference output does not verify it.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P06A8 is sensor reference voltage C range/performance. Ford’s diesel ECU monitor identifies sensor supply three and sets the listed condition when its output falls below 4.7 V or rises above 5.3 V.
A shared threshold does not identify shared wiring
The same page gives equivalent voltage boundaries for supplies one and two under P06A6 and P06A7. P06A8 still selects a different monitored supply. A normal five-volt reading on an unrelated sensor circuit is therefore not evidence that the reference-C output has passed.
Ford lists continuous monitoring and a typical five-second duration. The ECU monitor’s operating conditions must be matched to the actual vehicle; the summary is not a universal key-off resistance or connector-voltage test procedure.
Follow the supply group before blaming an individual sensor
Useful diagnostic evidence establishes which circuits are actually powered from supply three and whether their fault timing corresponds with the reference fault. The source does not publish that complete load map, so sensor membership should not be guessed from neighboring codes or another engine’s diagram.
An out-of-range supply can require investigation of both the supply source and its connected circuit, but this document does not decide which is at fault. It does not authorize arbitrary powered disconnections or prescribe an ECU replacement. The meaningful next step is vehicle-specific reference-circuit isolation, preserving the distinct supply identity that P06A8 provides.
