Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, August 25, 2023 revision; only the described monitor examples. Confirm the engine and calibration before applying values.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P06BF is Ford’s cylinder 7 glow-plug range/performance entry, explicitly marked V8 diesel only. The scope matters before locating a component: the generic code does not establish that another engine has the same channel arrangement or glow-control technology.
The check follows basic electrical screening
Ford sequences the resistance assessment after open-circuit, short-to-battery and short-to-ground testing. A continuity result therefore does not by itself establish that the later performance branch is satisfied.
The operating mode is glow-plug heating, with approximately three seconds to register a malfunction. The panel’s individual-circuit criterion is above 2 ohms, but its threshold caption says short to battery. That source inconsistency is retained rather than converted into a universal cold resistance limit.
Preserve the V8 channel and measured state
Record cylinder 7 identity, active heating request, the earlier electrical-check results and the exact performance code. A later test under different temperature or command conditions does not automatically reproduce the controller’s assessment.
The entry does not determine whether a resistive path lies inside the plug, in wiring or connections, or in control circuitry. It also does not prescribe a replacement part or direct-power test. Appropriate verification must use the actual V8 system’s diagnostic procedure to resolve the applicable criterion and physical cause before a repair decision is made.
