P0713: high transmission-temperature circuit input can indicate an open path

P0713 is the high-input transmission-fluid temperature circuit fault.

Documented application

Documented monitors in gm-2025-03a, gm-2025-04b, model year 2025. These are module/calibration examples; vehicle, engine and transmission applicability must be confirmed independently.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0713 is the high-input transmission-fluid temperature circuit fault. The cited tables describe detection of an open circuit or short to voltage through an inferred resistance above 284,177 ohms.

The row contains a labeling error

Both supplied pages incorrectly retain low voltage in their component label, despite the P0713 code and the explicit open/short-to-voltage strategy. This article follows the consistent high-resistance malfunction criterion and explains the discrepancy rather than silently importing the low-circuit meaning.

The very high inferred resistance is an electrical diagnostic quantity. It does not mean the fluid is at a correspondingly high temperature and is not a fluid-pressure limit. It also does not distinguish an open path from every possible voltage-related circuit failure on its own.

Keep timing claims bounded

The timing cell repeats fail time where a sample-window label would be expected. It clearly describes a persistent, once-per-second evaluation, but the exact window wording remains unresolved and is not presented as a verified stopwatch test.

Both battery and run/crank supplies must exceed 9 volts for the documented enable interval. Record the circuit data and supply context, then use the exact transmission procedure to resolve the high-input condition. Verification requires a passing electrical monitor before trusting the temperature signal for performance diagnosis. The published inconsistencies are retained for review; they do not justify replacing a sensor without circuit evidence.
