The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0763 is generally described as shift solenoid C electrical. Mazda's CW6A-EL transaxle page names the affected circuit shift solenoid number 3.

Electrical fault and operating response

The TCM detects the solenoid-circuit malfunction with battery voltage at least 10.5 V. Possible causes are a short or open in the circuit or a malfunctioning solenoid. The page does not specify a resistance value, current limit or affected gear, so none should be inferred from the generic letter C.

Mazda sets an emergency mode and inhibits learning, manual mode, neutral-idle control, i-stop and AAS. These disabled functions can be consequences of the same circuit fault; they do not necessarily represent separate transmission failures. A shift-quality complaint therefore needs the code and operating-state evidence kept together.

A source-specific repair route

The factory flow first records the snapshot and checks applicable service information. Its unresolved-fault branch calls for control valve body replacement. That assembly-level direction belongs to this transaxle and should not be generalized to every transmission with P0763 or converted into a whole-transaxle replacement recommendation.

Confirmation uses ignition on with the engine either off or running, then another TCM DTC inspection. Verify the exact CW6A-EL application and current service information before a parts decision. The code is an electrical finding, not proof of worn friction elements or insufficient fluid pressure.
