Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part2 diagnostic monitor documentation; the application-matrix filename mismatch is unresolved, so no model or engine applicability is inferred.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0869 monitors excessive transmission system pressure relative to the current target. The source compares measured pressure minus target pressure, rather than failing whenever pressure exceeds one fixed absolute value.

Excess above demand is the relevant quantity

The documented difference must exceed 5 bar for 1,500 milliseconds. A 3-bar low hysteresis limit is also listed. Pressure that is high in absolute terms can be acceptable when demanded; a smaller absolute pressure can still be excessive if the target is much lower.

The diagnostic requires electrically healthy system-pressure sensing and pilot-valve control, hydraulic availability, and absence of various adaptive overrides, recovery operations, low-pressure conditions, and auxiliary-pump priming. Those exclusions matter when interpreting a pressure trace during a recovery routine.

Verification should preserve the target

Record measured and requested pressure together with the controller state. Looking only at measured pressure removes the comparison that defines the failure. A pressure drop after the fault also must be understood relative to hysteresis and the current target.

Verification should demonstrate acceptable target tracking during an eligible, completed high-pressure monitor. The table does not identify a sticking valve or select a pressure-control component for replacement; it provides the deviation and operating context that professional diagnosis must explain.

Documentation and applicability

These details describe the monitor in GM’s 2025 25OBDG07A Part2 file. Its application-matrix filename does not match the download index, so model and engine applicability remain unresolved. Use the vehicle’s correct service information before applying these calibration details.
