Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 monitor tables only; model, engine and transmission applicability are not established by the unresolved application-matrix filename join.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0883 identifies excessive voltage at the transmission controller's permanent supply in the documented GM calibration. The controller compares its own KL30 supply with an upper operating limit; this is not a declaration that a particular solenoid or mechanical gear has failed.
What completes the voltage fault
The table specifies battery voltage above 18.3 V, with 0.3 V hysteresis and a failure confirmation time of at least 500 milliseconds. Monitoring excludes engine cranking and the stop key state. A brief transition and a sustained eligible overvoltage therefore do not provide equivalent evidence.
The hysteresis is also relevant when reviewing a voltage recording near the boundary: entry into a failure state and recovery around that boundary need not occur at one identical voltage. Those figures belong to this controller calibration, not every vehicle that reports P0883.
Interpreting a cluster of transmission codes
The accompanying transmission tables list P0883 as an inhibiting condition for other electrical diagnostics. A test that stops running while the supply fault is active cannot demonstrate that its component passed. Establishing a valid supply operating state is consequently important before interpreting downstream test completion.
Useful evidence includes the controller's supply reading, the duration of the excursion, cranking status and which other tests were inhibited. An apparently normal reading after the event does not reproduce the original conditions. The monitor alone cannot identify whether the voltage originated in charging equipment, a supply circuit or the controller's measurement path.
