Documented application
Documented monitors in gm-2025-03a, model year 2025. These are module/calibration examples; vehicle, engine and transmission applicability must be confirmed independently.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0966 is pressure-control solenoid B circuit low. The cited controller recognizes a ground-short electrical signature through its own voltage thresholds, with a detection specification below 0.5 ohm from signal to controller ground.
Identify B using the transmission, not the letter alone
The table includes distinct B clutch assignments for several geared transmissions and a primary-pulley assignment for the CVT. An article cannot locate a valve or select a replacement part from B without the actual transmission mapping.
The low label also does not mean low fluid pressure. This row tests electrical integrity and supplies no mechanical pressure threshold. Hydraulic symptoms can be relevant context, but they are not the defining measurement.
Power and sample prerequisites
The applicable high-side supply must be mapped and on. Battery voltage must stay between 9 and 32 volts for more than one second, with a qualifying run/crank or accessory-power state. The failure decision exceeds 0.3 second within a sample period exceeding 0.5 second.
Those conditions make supply-driver status important when checking a later apparent pass. If the supply is disabled, absence of a new code is weaker evidence than a completed passing test. Verification should establish the low-circuit signature has cleared with the correct supply active and complete the prescribed transmission checks. The source does not authorize live resistance measurement or prove that the solenoid winding, rather than its circuit, is defective.
