P0B54: sense circuit F uses a sustained open-detection window
The GM P0B54 family evaluates persistent sensing inconsistencies rather than treating every isolated voltage update as a fault.

Documented application
Document-level 2015 GM diagnostic table; per-code vehicle/engine/calibration applicability not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0B54 is the battery voltage-sense circuit F member of the cited GM open-detection table. The code identifies the channel under investigation; the shared monitor logic describes how an apparent open measurement path is recognized.
Timing helps separate a snapshot from the monitor result
The table specifies 600 milliseconds of failure within a 600-millisecond window, with a 200-millisecond evaluation frequency. Those values belong to this documented controller. One unusual scan update does not reproduce the entire persistence condition.
A scanner's display rate may also differ from the controller's internal evaluation. Record the stored event and available history rather than assume that an unobserved brief fault could never have occurred.
The voltage pattern still determines the interpretation
The family includes adjacent-cell comparisons and cases involving shared sensing power or busbar connections. The same timing does not make all these mechanisms interchangeable. A group of affected readings can indicate a different investigation from one isolated channel.
One positive-side busbar threshold is incomplete in the original table. No missing numerical condition or physical F-channel location is inferred here.
Qualified diagnosis should compare circuit F with the relevant neighboring channels and confirm communication, balancing and internal-module status. Work inside a high-voltage battery requires the approved isolation procedure. A successful repair record should show a valid completed monitor, not merely a cleared code and one later normal-looking reading.
