P0B83: block 15 low requires evidence from block 16 as well

GM P0B83 filters a paired low-reading condition from blocks 15 and 16 in the documented battery controller.

Documented application

GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

The source describes P0B83 as block 15 voltage measurement out of range low. A generic code reader may call it voltage-sense O circuit low. Neither label by itself establishes that a particular physical battery module must be replaced.

Read the paired condition carefully

Block 15 below 2 V must occur together with block 16 below 2 V. That means the neighboring channel is part of the failure logic. Preserve both measurements during the event; a later scan showing only one channel can omit the relationship that triggered the monitor.

The controller requires fifteen failing samples among twenty, sampled every 100 ms. The rule provides filtering within the monitor. The separate two-trip Type B classification should not be interpreted as an owner-operated reset procedure.

Verify before drawing a component conclusion

BPCM RUN mode, a 12 V supply within 9–18 V and inactive P0A1F are the stated prerequisites. A test performed outside those conditions may not evaluate the low branch, even if no new fault is visible.

The next diagnostic decision is whether the paired reports reflect real battery voltage or a problem in the sensing path. The summary does not answer that question or provide a component-location map. A trained hybrid technician must use the applicable vehicle documentation and high-voltage precautions to establish the cause and verify stable operation.
