P0C83: Sensor H circuit low must be separated from temperature direction
The GM P0C83 threshold pairs low ADC count with a high converted temperature, with explicit timing and eligibility conditions.

Documented application
15OBDG01 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited controller and monitor only. Historical calibration limits are not universal specifications; per-code vehicle, engine and hardware applicability must be verified.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0C83 identifies battery-temperature sensor H's low electrical circuit condition. In the cited GM table, the explicit failure pair is ADC below 680 and a reported temperature above 87.5°C. A low-circuit label should therefore not be described as evidence that the battery is cold.
Interpret the reported heat carefully
The temperature is derived from the sensing signal. With this circuit code, a high display does not independently prove actual battery temperature. The correct vehicle procedure must establish whether the reading is credible before assigning a physical thermal problem.
The failure must account for 1.4 seconds of a two-second observation window, with 200-millisecond evaluations. Recovery requires temperature at or below 87.5°C and ADC at least 680 for two seconds. The duration is part of both the failed and recovered state.
Check the supporting system
Enabled communication is required. Specified sensing-module communication and internal-performance faults must be absent, and the secondary protection self-test inactive. Preserve those prerequisites when evaluating whether a later reading constitutes a valid retest.
The source strategy sentence refers to temperature falling below a limit despite its explicit high converted-temperature criterion. That inconsistency remains flagged rather than silently corrected. Sensor H's physical location and any high-voltage battery access must come from the exact service documentation. The monitor itself provides no universal connector instruction or replacement decision.
