P0D58: proximity-signal low is checked in a specific driving state
GM P0D58 uses proximity-circuit voltage, vehicle speed and shift state; the example is not a generic plugged-in charging test.

Documented application
GM 2015 15OBDG01 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited HCP2/VICM proximity monitor only. Vehicle fitment and calibration transfer to other models have not been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0D58 identifies a low proximity-detection circuit voltage in the cited GM HCP2 monitor. The enabling conditions are a central part of its meaning. This is not simply a rule that any low proximity reading while a cable is connected must be a fault.
Speed and shift state qualify the test
The controller evaluates a proximity-circuit voltage below 4.2 V when system voltage exceeds 9 V, vehicle speed exceeds 12.4 mph and the shift lever is not in Park. The vehicle-speed input must have no faults.
GM requires 30 failed samples out of 50, sampled every 100 milliseconds. The listed pass period is five seconds. Thus, both the operating-state record and the accumulation of samples are relevant; an isolated static reading does not recreate the documented evaluation.
Avoid borrowing another charging-circuit diagnosis
The proximity circuit and the control-pilot circuit have separate rows and limits. A control-pilot code should not be explained by copying the proximity threshold, even though both belong to the charging interface.
A technician should preserve the proximity value, speed validity and shift state at the event. If speed information is faulty, that affects the prerequisite for this monitor rather than proving a proximity-circuit defect. The table supplies no connector pinout or component replacement instruction. Use the applicable vehicle procedure for circuit isolation. Never attempt to reproduce a speed-dependent condition with a charging cable connected; the monitor description is diagnostic context, not a suggested road test.
