P0E61: The charger's low-voltage enable circuit reports a hardware fault
GM's P0E61 monitor evaluates the charger 12 V enable line's hardware fault flag rather than charger output power.

Documented application
2018 GM 18OBDG01 diagnostic monitor; document section stated in article; per-vehicle and calibration applicability must be verified.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0E61 identifies battery charger A enable circuit/open. The 2018 GM HPC2/VICM table describes a fault check of the charger's 12 V enable circuit, using a hardware input/output fault flag.
The supported finding is broader than a confirmed broken wire
The row fails when that flag is true. It requires system voltage of at least 10.2 V, global diagnostic disable false and a flag state that is not indeterminate. Thirty failures among 40 samples at 25-millisecond intervals satisfy the listed one-second test. Reporting is Type B, two trips.
Although the generic label includes “open,” this source does not provide an open-circuit voltage band or isolate one physical mechanism. It supports saying that the enable line's hardware diagnostic reported a fault. It does not establish a charger DC output-voltage defect or a failed traction battery.
Preserve validity as well as the fault state
A flag that is indeterminate is different from a valid false result. Retain the enable-line status and low-voltage supply information when examining an intermittent charging complaint. The exact circuit procedure must identify what the controller's hardware flag represents on the vehicle.
After correction, verify a determinate, acceptable flag through an eligible evaluation and perform the prescribed charging checks. Do not apply external power to the enable line from this description. Charger access and any high-voltage work require qualified service and the vehicle-specific safety process.
