P2071: A tuning-valve jam result needs the source’s endpoint conflict kept visible
Learn the control prerequisites behind GM P2071 and why its conflicting open/closed descriptions prevent a guessed mechanical conclusion.

Documented application
2025 GM 07A-1 documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and controller calibration applicability must be established separately; no model fitment is inferred from the file.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2071 is generically a bank 1 intake manifold tuning valve stuck-closed code. The GM row contains both a closed-position phrase and an opened-valve description, while its reported jam criterion says opened. This is an unresolved source inconsistency, not a reason to choose a physical endpoint by assumption.
The supported monitor evidence is a control-state sequence
The table combines a governor deviation with a preliminary jam report and a jam-state result. Normal system status and the absence of a detected frozen actuator are part of its eligibility. A stationary valve by itself does not establish that this complete assessment ran or failed.
Actuator testing and first end-stop learning must be inactive, and the actuator must be available with sufficient pressure for operation. These exclusions matter when comparing a service-test movement or an initialization pause with a stored jam finding.
Keep the operating context with the code
Record the actual target, reported endpoint, deviation and jam-state information. The source's conflicting labels cannot safely be converted into an instruction to move, free or replace a specific mechanism. The lower battery-enable entry is also not clearly rendered, so no guessed voltage boundary is supplied here.
The stated evaluation interval is 0.05 second with two-trip reporting. Those timing details do not remove the need to confirm the exact controller implementation. Vehicle-specific service information must resolve the endpoint and operating-window questions before a mechanical repair decision is made.
