P2092: The bank 2 intake cam actuator’s low-circuit check

Learn why P2092 evaluates the actuator driver’s off-state electrical behavior rather than cam timing accuracy.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 monitor tables only; model, engine and transmission applicability are not established by the unresolved application-matrix filename join.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2092 identifies a low-circuit condition for the bank 2 “A” camshaft actuator. The GM source identifies this as the intake actuator and checks its low-side driver circuit for a short-to-ground pattern.

The driver is assessed in its off state

The monitored observation is a low voltage while the driver is off. That state matters: low voltage during an intentionally energized low-side output is not automatically abnormal. The table gives a 0.2-second failure period for this low-circuit check, while adjacent open-circuit and high-circuit diagnoses use different classifications.

Monitoring requires ignition on, the ECU in its drive state and the applicable basic enable conditions. The row also provides a battery operating window and references separate inhibition tables, so the code cannot be interpreted independently of controller eligibility.

Electrical command evidence comes before timing conclusions

The useful comparison is the driver's command against its diagnostic electrical response. This monitor does not compare requested cam angle with actual cam angle and does not establish an oil-pressure or mechanical timing failure.

A valid follow-up should identify the bank 2 intake actuator circuit using the actual engine information, then distinguish a ground path from an open load or a supply short. The generic “A” label does not establish a physical connector location. A code alone cannot separate external wiring, the actuator's electrical load and the internal driver. The document explains the electrical monitor; it does not authorize choosing a timing component from the fault label.
