P2193: Bank 2 runs lean in the upper part-load adaptation range

BMW P2193 evaluates Bank 2 mixture adaptation at higher load rather than an idle-only fuel-trim condition.

Documented application

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

BMW 29E6/P2193 describes a lean mixture adaptation result for Bank 2 in the upper part-load range. The N62TU chart specifies relative load above 55% and mass airflow above 250 kg/h, with no active evaporative purge-air discharge and no faults that disable the diagnosis.

The operating region changes the interpretation

This is a multiplicative adaptation monitor. An idle-only observation does not reproduce its stated load and airflow conditions. A vehicle can therefore have an unremarkable idle trim while the higher-flow operating region still requires excessive correction.

The chart's memory-entry period is approximately ten minutes. That makes a very brief acceleration or a cleared memory immediately followed by a short drive poor evidence of successful verification.

Investigate air measurement and fuel delivery

BMW lists induction or exhaust air leaks, low fuel pressure, the upstream oxygen sensors, evaporative air discharge, and a contaminated or defective hot-film airflow meter as service considerations. These possibilities affect different parts of the mixture calculation. A lean adaptation result alone does not select one of them or prove that an oxygen sensor needs replacement.

Fuel-pressure testing should follow the applicable professional procedures. Exhaust leakage also matters because it can alter the information used by the oxygen sensor, rather than merely reflecting air entering through the intake.

The source's voltage-enable line is internally questionable: it prints values outside 11–16 V. That line is not used here as a valid enable specification. The load range, adaptation direction, and service checks remain useful, with exact calibration verification required.
