Documented application

Kia bulletin ENG130 / SA149 Rev. 1, January 2014: specified 2011–2012 Sportage SL turbo vehicles produced May 1, 2011–January 1, 2012. Verify the ECM ROM, immobilizer and drivetrain entries in the original applicability tables.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

The fault can involve actuator adjustment

P2562 is turbocharger boost-control position-sensor A range/performance in this Kia bulletin. It can occur with P2565. Kia calls for checking the electronic wastegate actuator feedback and adjusting the rod only if the measurement is outside its specified range, together with the applicable ECM logic update. This is more specific than assuming that either the position sensor or complete turbocharger has failed.

Temperature and adaptation affect the reading

The adjustment table changes the target with coolant temperature: below 25 °C it gives 3.90–4.10 V, while 41–60 °C uses 3.80–4.00 V. The technician also confirms the actuator’s fully closed position. After a mechanical adjustment, the bulletin requires five ignition cycles, each with five seconds off and five seconds on, without starting the engine, for the adapted value to change. Reading it immediately after turning the rod can therefore give a misleading result.

Use the correct calibration and verify the final setting

The ROM table distinguishes immobilizer and drivetrain configurations, and the source warns that selecting the wrong programming procedure can disable the controller. Rod adjustment near a turbocharger also requires a cool engine and the specified retention and locking steps. Ask the repairer to document the temperature, initial feedback, final adapted value and installed calibration. The completed procedure includes another adaptation check and a test drive. It does not support arbitrary rod shortening to raise boost or repeated adjustments without measuring the feedback.
