P2623: Ford 6.0L injection-pressure regulator driver circuit fault

The documented Ford P2623 monitor uses injection-control pressure regulator driver status to detect an electrical open or short.

Documented application

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2623 is injection-control pressure regulator open in Ford's 2004 6.0L diesel summary. The actual failure criterion is actuator-driver status indicating an open or short. The broader electrical criterion should remain visible instead of assuming that the title proves only a physically broken wire.

A circuit check in two engine states

Ford enables the monitor with the engine off or running. It runs continuously in an eight-millisecond task and typically evaluates in less than one second. This differs from the longer functional pressure checks that require running and compare actual ICP with requested pressure.

The source lists no sensor prerequisites for the driver check. A pressure measurement is therefore not the evidence used to establish P2623 itself.

Separate regulator control from pressure response

Preserve any P2284, P2288 or P2290 pressure-control faults as additional observations, but do not treat them as synonyms for the electrical driver result. Use the exact IPR control-circuit procedure to distinguish the actuator, wiring and controller path before selecting a repair. The OBD summary supplies no connector pinout or hydraulic removal instruction. Testing the injection-control system requires the appropriate electrical equipment and high-pressure precautions.

The documented monitor explains the fault decision; vehicle-specific service information is still needed for connector identification and a complete repair procedure.
