Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG03A diagnostic monitor only; exact vehicle, engine, transmission and calibration applicability is not established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2714 describes a hydraulically failed-off forward-clutch pressure-control actuator in the reviewed GM CVT-specific row. The generic solenoid-D name covers broader applications, but this article's behavior and limits come from the CVT input-clutch monitor only.
Two operating situations can reveal the problem
The controller can detect excessive attained-gear slip during a forward engagement, termed a garage shift in the source. One documented condition uses slip above 500 rpm, with failure time and repeated-event counting.
It also evaluates loss of power flow after steady forward operation has been attained, including torque-instability evidence. A fault appearing during initial engagement therefore need not have exactly the same recorded conditions as one appearing after steady travel. The summary contains additional torque/slip labels whose units are not sufficiently clear to turn into universal service thresholds.
Hydraulic performance is separated from electrical validity
Related solenoid circuit faults P2718, P2720 and P2721 inhibit the documented performance diagnosis. Speed-sensor and other control faults also affect eligibility, and service fast-learn or solenoid-cleaning activity is excluded.
A passed circuit check does not demonstrate that clutch pressure produced the intended hydraulic result. Conversely, an active electrical fault can prevent a valid hydraulic-performance evaluation.
Verification should identify the applicable CVT and failing operating phase, then confirm normal engagement or steady-state power transfer under the manufacturer's procedure. The source does not establish that the solenoid alone, the clutch or the complete transmission requires replacement. It lists Type A, one-trip behavior.
