P27B2: Range-control supervision can involve parking-lock safety
Understand Ford P27B2’s internal-supervision context and why it is not automatically a mechanical failure to enter park.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P27B2 is Ford’s internal transmission-range control-performance classification, mapped to P07E4_48 in the cited supervision list. The TR9070 dual-clutch section also associates that representation with a parking-lock-related safety-goal violation. Those descriptions concern supervision of the controlled state, not automatic proof of a broken parking mechanism.
Architecture and duration change the interpretation
The general internal-monitoring list makes P27B2 a specific timing exception: registration is below three seconds rather than the group’s usual below-one-second period. It is marked non-MIL. A missing check-engine lamp therefore does not establish that the relevant supervision passed.
In the TR9070 tables, direct failures to engage or disengage the parking lock have their own representations. Those mechanical-control classifications should not be collapsed into the internal safety-monitor entry simply because they share a parking-related context.
Keep the actual supervised event
Preserve the transmission identity, complete suffix, requested range and any companion parking-lock codes. The source does not justify transferring the TR9070 mapping to every transmission that can display the generic P27B2 label.
No universal position tolerance, force value or repair is supplied for this supervisory result. Verification needs the matching range-control and safety-monitor procedure, without deliberately testing whether an inadequately secured vehicle will roll. The code organizes diagnostic evidence; it does not identify a failed actuator or prove a parking lock’s mechanical condition.
