P2844: Rod-four intermittent feedback is a frequency-window check
P2844 assesses digital frequency on the rod-four position input, separately from the mechanical position that the signal represents.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 documented monitor only; its application-matrix filename join is unresolved. No model, engine or universal calibration applicability is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2844’s documented implementation checks the frequency of rod-four position feedback. The controller rejects an input below 1,500 Hz or above 2,500 Hz for at least 150 ms. This gives the generic intermittent description a specific meaning: unacceptable signal timing, not automatically a disconnected wire.
What a position display cannot establish
A sensor can continue producing pulses at an invalid rate. Likewise, a plausible converted rod position may not reveal that the digital carrier has left its allowed band. Verification therefore requires timing information rather than only a reported mechanical position.
The source associates this channel with VREF2 and lists P0652/P0653 plus P0882/P0883 as inhibits. Its numerical VREF2 enable entries are contradictory, above 5.5 V and below 4.5 V, so the intended supply window remains unresolved here.
Follow the frequency excursion
Preserve the measured rate, duration and supply diagnostic context. A continuity check or isolated voltage value cannot reproduce the frequency monitor. Applicable service information must resolve eligibility and the correct channel before component testing. The source does not prove a damaged shift fork or identify a particular sensor or connection as the necessary repair.
Document scope and source
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 documented monitor only; its application-matrix filename join is unresolved. No model, engine or universal calibration applicability is inferred. These figures explain the cited controller logic, not a vehicle-specific repair instruction. Match the vehicle’s service information before applying them.
