The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2BBD describes high input from the SKYACTIV-X air bypass valve position sensor. Mazda's documented threshold is above 4.63 V at the PCM input.

An open circuit can produce the high reading

The source lists a signal short to power and opens in the sensor supply, signal or ground circuits. The full set matters: a high-input code is not sufficient proof that an external voltage source has contacted the signal wire. Connector faults, the sensor and the PCM are additional possibilities.

The workshop sequence checks the valve/sensor and PCM connections, then separates the short-to-power test from continuity of the supply, signal and ground. Sensor inspection follows those electrical branches. The page does not publish a qualifying duration.

Restore valid feedback before judging movement

Mazda inhibits boost and stops EGR control as the response. A displayed high sensor value does not establish that the bypass valve is physically at maximum opening. It means the controller lacks trustworthy electrical feedback for that conclusion.

After the supported circuit or component repair, the prescribed key-on or running self-test and pending-code check are used for confirmation. If a separate valve-tracking problem remains, it needs its own diagnostic evidence. Do not let the position-sensor code alone drive a complete supercharger replacement or a guessed mechanical adjustment.
