P2C09: Intake profile-position channel B has its own open-circuit result
Understand how P2C09 identifies channel B’s energized circuit integrity without diagnosing the entire profile system.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG03B documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed from the matching service information; no model fitment is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2C09 concerns the intake camshaft profile-position sensor B circuit being classified open. The cited GM strategy uses a driver-level voltage check while its output is on. This is channel-specific electrical evidence, so it should not be generalized into a failure of every profile sensor or the entire camshaft assembly.
Identify the intended channel and command
The monitor compares voltage with controller-specific thresholds corresponding to impedance above 200 kΩ toward controller ground. The source does not provide a physical connector location or make the generic B designation a cylinder number.
The neighboring P2C0A performance row describes intake Hall sensor 2 and a command-to-state inconsistency. That distinction helps separate an electrical open result from a signal that is present but reports the wrong event sequence.
Evaluate the powered-on observation window
The output must be commanded on, system supply above 11 V, diagnostic enablement active and ignition in crank or run. Four failed samples among five establish the code’s result. A normal off-state voltage cannot substitute for this energized assessment.
Preserve channel B’s command and electrical status rather than relying only on a decoded position display. The monitor does not establish where the interruption is located or whether the connected sensor, its circuit or the driver caused it. A vehicle-specific circuit procedure is needed before choosing a part or an invasive mechanical test.
