Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG04B diagnostic parameter tables; the cited monitor only. Vehicle, engine and calibration applicability must be confirmed separately.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P02F2 is a cylinder-5 injector current-decay diagnosis in the cited implementation. The controller examines how quickly current falls from its hold or bypass level to zero at the end of an injection.
Why “performance” does not identify a mechanical fault
The monitor's acceptable timing is bounded by failure criteria below 7 microseconds and above 24 microseconds. Either side can produce the code. A fuel delivery complaint alone cannot show which electrical timing condition occurred, and the source explicitly allows an injector or ECU fault as an explanation.
The table filters 41 failures across 82 samples, with one sample per engine cycle. Its Type A, one-trip classification describes reporting behavior, not a universal proof of a continuously present fault.
Preserve pulse validity
The measurement is gated by battery voltage above 11 V, ignition on and a requested injection pulse. It is inhibited by specified injector-circuit, controller, boost-voltage and pull-in faults, and requires no hardware indication that the pulse was dropped.
A useful investigation therefore separates abnormal decay after a valid pulse from a pulse that was never validly delivered. For verification, establish normal end-of-injection timing under enabled conditions with the relevant service equipment. The page does not identify an injector part number, provide a repair price or demonstrate that a cylinder-5 injector replacement is necessary.
