P0472: Exhaust-pressure low-circuit evidence must retain the source’s labeling caveat

Ford diesel P0472 is listed under turbine-upstream pressure signal checking, with an apparent copied reductant subheading.

Documented application

Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, revised August 25, 2023; these are documented monitor examples, not confirmed fitment or universal thresholds for every vehicle carrying this generic code.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P0472 names exhaust-pressure sensor A circuit low. Ford places it under upstream turbine pressure signal-range checking, alongside the P0473 high-circuit code. The electrical limits given in that section are below 0.100 V or above 4.8 V, with a two-second typical duration.

Electrical range differs from pressure plausibility

The preceding source material uses P0471 for pressure-offset comparison and P0474 for a running pressure-model comparison. P0472 belongs to the signal-range branch, so it should not be described as proof that physical exhaust pressure is too low.

A signal within an electrical range can still disagree with a pressure model; conversely, a low electrical signal can invalidate interpretation of a displayed pressure. Those are different diagnostic observations that should remain separate in the record.

A source inconsistency limits the specification

Although the section title and DTC labels identify turbine-upstream/exhaust pressure, the internal subheadings say “reductant pressure.” This appears to be a copied label, but this article does not silently treat the page as an authoritative universal connector test. Confirm the applicable sensor and electrical limit in the vehicle’s service information.

The code does not identify a failed sensor or a short location by itself. Preserve the circuit classification and related pressure faults, then use the correct wiring and test procedure. A low-circuit title is not sufficient evidence for a hydraulic or exhaust-flow diagnosis.
