Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P05B6 concerns the supply-voltage circuit of active grille shutter B. In the Ford example, the fault threshold is measured inside the actuator’s ASIC controller, while battery voltage is used separately to decide whether the monitor is eligible. Those two electrical quantities must not be treated as interchangeable.
A valid supply window can coexist with the fault
The listed battery operating window is 11–16 V, with key on and at least five seconds since engine start. Within that eligible state, an internal supply below 6.9 V triggers the low-supply classification. The monitor is continuous and specifies 30 seconds to register a failure.
Thus, a normal battery reading does not automatically disprove the code. It satisfies only one part of the documented conditions; it is not a direct measurement of the internal rail used by the actuator electronics.
Capture the right voltage and state
Preserve battery voltage, time since startup and the actuator’s reported supply fault together. A reading captured before the five-second entry point or after the fault has disappeared may answer a different question from the original event.
The source also maps this condition to P05C1_A1. Keeping that suffix matters because other P05C1 subtypes describe different internal conditions. The summary does not establish whether an external feed, connection or internal electronic fault caused the low rail. That distinction needs vehicle-specific circuit information; 6.9 V is not presented as a universal connector test specification.
