P0694 is the high circuit classification for fan 2 in Ford’s diesel monitor. The source specifically associates it with a short-to-power condition detected by the secondary electric cooling-fan relay. The word “high” describes electrical fault direction, not excessive fan speed or high coolant temperature.
The relay check can register a short event
Monitoring is continuous and the published typical duration is 0.5 second. A later normal relay or fan response therefore does not demonstrate that the earlier eligible electrical event did not occur.
The adjacent P0693 entry covers an open or short-to-ground category. Keeping that difference intact matters when selecting a circuit investigation: the two codes cannot be treated as interchangeable evidence merely because they concern the same secondary fan.
Relate the report to the commanded state
Preserve the code, fan/relay identity, requested operation and available electrical status. Observing fan movement alone does not localize the short-to-power classification, and a temperature complaint does not establish the control fault’s origin.
Ford does not provide a universal voltage threshold or connector pin in this summary. The actual circuit procedure is needed to distinguish wiring, relay, connected-load and control-electronics evidence. The monitor description cannot independently justify a fan replacement or identify a particular physical short from the code title.
