P068F: Cylinder8 high-circuit evidence needs the driver’s classification
Learn why Ford P068F cannot be diagnosed from an isolated zero-current reading without its heating and circuit context.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P068F is the cylinder 8 glow-plug high-circuit classification in Ford’s short-to-battery monitor. The source restricts this channel to V8 diesel applications and specifies that glow plugs are in heating mode. The generic code does not provide a universal cylinder map for other engines.
A current statement is not a complete fault-localization procedure
Ford lists zero individual glow-plug current for the high-circuit panel, with approximately one second to register a malfunction. The separate open-load panel uses a below-1 A criterion. Those descriptions show why a single zero-current measurement cannot independently resolve every electrical classification.
The controller’s reported fault state and the active heating command must be retained. A dormant glow plug carrying no current is not an equivalent test of the high-circuit monitor.
Keep cylinder8 and other controlled loads separate
Record the exact channel and any accompanying open, low or control-module faults. The reductant-heater entries on the same page use their own timing, so they do not define the glow-plug detection period.
The summary does not publish a connector voltage, identify the physical short path or prove the glow element itself failed. Appropriate verification uses the applicable V8 glow-control procedure to distinguish wiring, load and driver evidence. The code’s high classification should guide that investigation rather than become an automatic instruction to replace the plug or apply external power.
