P06C0: Cylinder8 glow performance needs the operating resistance test
Learn why Ford P06C0 cannot be reduced to a cold resistance reading or an automatic glow-plug replacement.

Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, August 25, 2023 revision; only the described monitor examples. Confirm the engine and calibration before applying values.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P06C0 identifies the cylinder 8 glow-plug range/performance assessment in Ford’s V8 diesel example. The source marks this channel V8 only and places it within a shared resistance-monitor family. The code chooses the channel; it does not imply a special cylinder 8 test invented independently of the other channels.
Heating and preceding checks are part of the procedure
The resistance assessment follows the open, short-to-battery and short-to-ground checks. It runs with glow-plug heating active and has an approximate three-second failure-registration period. Those conditions separate it from a simple continuity observation made while the system is inactive.
The panel states an individual-circuit resistance above 2 ohms, but the threshold caption is labeled short to battery. This article retains that ambiguity instead of declaring an unconditional workshop resistance limit.
Localize the path after confirming the report
Preserve the cylinder 8 channel, heating command and preceding electrical classifications. A circuit can avoid an open-load report yet still require investigation under the later performance criterion.
The summary does not establish where the relevant resistance occurs or prove that the glow element itself is defective. The applicable V8 circuit information must resolve the actual specification and distinguish load, connection, wiring and control-electronics evidence. A generic range/performance label is insufficient justification for direct powering or replacing the glow plug.
