P0773: The CW6A-EL on/off solenoid electrical circuit
The documented Mazda P0773 procedure covers the CW6A-EL on/off solenoid electrical circuit.

Mazda3 workshop manual 01/2019 onward, d9n1-1a-22d_ver10; TCM (CW6A-EL). Verify exact vehicle specification; this is a Mazda application example.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0773 is commonly labeled shift solenoid E electrical. Mazda's CW6A-EL diagnostic page identifies its component as the on/off solenoid rather than assigning it a universal E location.
A circuit diagnosis with a specific serviceable component
The TCM evaluates the circuit with battery voltage at least 10.5 V. The listed possible causes are a short or open circuit and an on/off solenoid malfunction. The source does not provide a test resistance or identify a particular stuck gear from the DTC alone.
Emergency mode is activated, and learning, manual mode, neutral-idle control, i-stop and AAS are inhibited. These control responses can explain changes in transmission operation while leaving the underlying fault specifically electrical.
Distinguish this repair route from neighboring solenoid codes
The factory sequence records the snapshot and considers related service information. Its unresolved branch calls for replacement of the on/off solenoid. In contrast to an assumption that every solenoid code requires the same assembly, the applicable Mazda component procedure matters here.
Verification consists of ignition-on operation with the engine off or on and another TCM DTC inspection. Any additional codes follow their own diagnostic routes. Before selecting parts, confirm the CW6A-EL application and exact on/off-solenoid service information. P0773 by itself does not establish internal clutch damage, and this source does not justify replacing the complete transaxle solely on the code.
