P0830: A clutch switch stuck-high result requires more than a static reading
Understand Ford P0830 switch-state monitoring and distinguish it from clutch position sensor circuit and comparison faults.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
Ford labels P0830 as a clutch switch stuck-high result in the cited clutch pedal switch monitor. That is a specific diagnostic state, not a universal instruction that the pedal is physically pressed or released whenever the electrical input is high.
Determine the switch logic for the vehicle
The source lists P0704 comparison results separately for switch A and switch B. It also distinguishes the stuck-low category. The exact circuit diagram and operating logic are needed to relate “high” to the pedal position on an individual vehicle.
Ford's switch monitor uses more than 40 clutch application cycles while driving at different speeds. A switch that changes state once during a stationary check has therefore not necessarily passed the complete monitored behavior.
Do not use the sensor test schedule
The following clutch-position sensor checks run on a much shorter, sub-second timescale. They concern analog circuit or correlation behavior rather than the repeated switch-state evaluation described for P0830.
Retain the complete DTC and the observed state sequence through the appropriate operating events. The code is listed as non-MIL, so no check-engine lamp does not establish a pass. The source does not provide a universal terminal voltage or identify whether the switch, adjustment, wiring or control input caused the stuck state. Verification should use the proper vehicle procedure without bypassing clutch-related safety or starting functions.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
