P08CA: Interpreting the synchronizer valve low-circuit report
Read P08CA as a driver electrical fault while keeping the source’s unresolved timing relationship separate from a repair specification.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG07A Part 2 monitor tables only; model, engine and transmission applicability are not established by the unresolved application-matrix filename join.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
In the cited GM transmission calibration, P08CA identifies a low-circuit fault for synchronizer actuation valve 1. The driver reports a short-to-ground condition based on the monitored output node; the code does not directly measure hydraulic pressure or prove a selector is mechanically stuck.
What the source supports clearly
The strategy text says that the short-to-ground check evaluates the solenoid when switched on. The driver status, commanded state and node voltage form the diagnostic evidence. Battery supply must remain between 8.75 and 18 V, the engine must not be cranking, and P0882/P0883 disable the test.
A confirmation period of at least 150 milliseconds is listed. Consequently, a fault-history entry should be interpreted alongside the electrical operating state, rather than as evidence that every low voltage seen during switching is abnormal.
A detail requiring source clarification
The same row includes a low-side-output turn-off-time item alongside the on-state check. Their relationship is not explained here, so the article does not convert these items into a connector-probing sequence. The applicable workshop procedure must establish how they interact for the actual transmission.
The useful diagnostic distinction remains electrical versus hydraulic: a driver short-to-ground report can explain why commanded valve behavior cannot be trusted, but it does not isolate wiring, coil or internal driver by itself. Record which electrical status is reported and establish valid supply conditions before drawing conclusions from an unsuccessful actuator operation.
