P097B: Solenoid B open-circuit identification depends on the detailed code representation
Learn how Ford P097B maps to P0755_13 and why functional B codes remain separate findings.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the cited monitor and transmission architectures. No individual vehicle fitment or universal calibration is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P097B occupies the shift-solenoid B open-circuit cell in Ford's architecture tables. Its paired detailed identifier is P0755_13. The general monitor uses P0755 as its open-circuit display, so preserving the suffix helps a reader recognize the documented relationship without inventing another component.
Keep the gearbox scope explicit
The 8F35/8F40 architecture section carries this B mapping across its table continuation. That source scope does not supply a universal B-valve location or establish which vehicle uses the arrangement. Identify the actual transmission before selecting wiring or component information.
Ford's general electrical check is continuous and uses smart-driver fault feedback for a typical 1.5 seconds. Its B functional categories, P0756/_7F and P0757/_7E, evaluate response behavior separately. A successful mechanical response after an interruption returns does not identify the earlier electrical fault path.
Retain one coherent event record
Capture the original code representation, B command, electrical status and any accompanying supply faults. If scan tools translate the result differently, preserve both displays and their module context rather than assuming two independent B failures.
The source does not specify a universal resistance limit or prove a failed solenoid. Verification must use the matched electrical procedure to isolate the load, wiring and driver evidence before selecting a repair.
