P0B98: block 19 high sensing requires an eligible filtered event
GM P0B98 concerns repeated high block 19 reports, separately from block 19 and 20 rationality testing.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG10 Hybrid Diagnostics, cited BPCM or hybrid-controller monitor only. Historical calibration values are not universal specifications; no per-code model, engine or hardware fitment has been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P0B98 is the high-range code for block 19 voltage sensing in the cited GM calibration. The circuit S name used by generic readers identifies the diagnostic family. It should not be treated as a direct verdict on a physical battery module.
What produces this report
The controller looks for block 19 above 23 V, confirmed by fifteen failures out of twenty samples at 100 ms intervals. The repeated observations distinguish a qualified event from an isolated high-looking display value.
This high branch does not require the paired low readings used for P0B97. It also does not require the block 19/block 20 calculations used for P0B96. Related codes can accompany one another, but their underlying tests remain different.
Verify the conditions, then the cause
RUN mode, a 9–18 V low-voltage supply and inactive P0A1F are required for the check. A subsequent scan that lacks those conditions may not demonstrate normal operation, even if P0B98 has not returned.
Save block 19 data with the other relevant battery readings and fault records. The source supplies no universal connector specification, battery-replacement instruction or proof of actual overcharge. Determining whether the high report reflects a real voltage condition or inaccurate sensing requires the exact vehicle's hybrid procedure. Direct high-voltage investigation must be performed by appropriately trained service personnel.
