P2105: throttle shutdown-path monitoring refers to the previous cycle

The GM P2105 row concerns electronic-throttle power-down and watchdog processing; its abbreviated criterion does not establish a component replacement.

Documented application

GM 2009 09OBDG02 Engine Diagnostics, cited electronic-throttle power-down/watchdog monitor only. Individual vehicle, engine, wiring and calibration applicability has not been established from this parameter file.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2105 has a broad forced-engine-shutdown description, but this GM 2009 row documents electronic-throttle power-down processing and a watchdog check of the shutdown path. It refers to processing in the previous driving cycle. That historical state is different from a simple live throttle-angle measurement.

The prior cycle is relevant evidence

The table lists a five-second evaluation period and identifies power-down processing from the last driving cycle. A diagnostic discussion should therefore retain the shutdown and restart history, rather than assuming that the current pedal position fully explains the record.

The printed criterion is abbreviated and describes processing as completely finished without clearly spelling out the failure polarity. This article does not silently change that wording into a claim that a specific task definitely failed or that the controller always stops the engine when the code appears. Exact failure logic requires the matching service or calibration information.

Separate a supervisory record from a failed part

A technician should review the full electronic-throttle fault set and the relevant cycle history. A shutdown-path supervision record is not, by itself, proof of a defective pedal sensor, throttle motor or blade mechanism.

The source gives no component-level repair sequence or safe operating conclusion. Use the correct vehicle diagnostic procedure to determine why the supervisory result was recorded and how its processing is verified. Clearing the record cannot demonstrate that the previous-cycle condition has been understood or that a new shutdown-path evaluation completed correctly.
