P2107: Throttle processor communication is distinct from a plate stuck in position

Explain Ford P2107 processor monitoring and why it does not directly establish a mechanical throttle-body fault.

Documented application

Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

Ford lists P2107 as a throttle processor test result, paired with expanded form P2108_49. The cited malfunction description concerns an internal processor fault or loss of communication with the main CPU. This is different evidence from a plate that fails to reach its requested angle.

The processor check has its own timescale

The source lists 60 milliseconds for processor-fault detection, while the neighboring stuck-open and stuck-closed checks use 500 milliseconds. Those timing and category differences matter when interpreting the full fault record. A mechanically moving throttle plate does not independently verify processor communication.

Preserve the expanded code and companion processor, sensor or actuator results before deciding which subsystem requires investigation. The summary does not identify one failed chip or provide a universal control-module replacement test.

Fallback operation is architecture-dependent

Ford's dependability overview describes multiple responses to electronic-throttle failures, including altered torque control and, for specified hardware, processor resets. It does not establish that every P2107 vehicle will show the same behavior.

The cited processor row associates the result with a MIL and an electronic-throttle indication for the fault causing fallback action. Use the correct vehicle procedure to evaluate the processor/communication concern and verify a completed monitor without recurrence. An erased code followed by one successful throttle movement is not equivalent to that verification, and the source does not justify assuming a dirty or mechanically stuck throttle plate from P2107 alone.

Source and applicability

This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
