P2282: An inferred intake leak needs a nearly closed throttle and healthy inputs
Understand the modeled leak threshold behind Ford P2282 and why it does not identify a particular leaking hose.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2282 is the air-leak-between-throttle-and-intake-valve classification in Ford’s PCV monitoring section. The published criterion is a calculated leak of at least 1 lbm/min persisting for five seconds. It is an inferred airflow result, not a measurement that locates a specific opening in the intake system.
The throttle and sensor conditions are essential
The typical entry window limits throttle angle to 4 degrees after that condition has persisted for at least 300 milliseconds. Intake-air and coolant temperature minima are −20°F, with barometric pressure at least 20 inHg. A wide-open-throttle observation is not an equivalent opportunity to apply this check.
Ford also requires no faults in sensors or systems affecting the PCV monitor, including the listed pressure and charge-temperature inputs and VCT. A leak estimate formed with unreliable supporting inputs cannot be interpreted as though those prerequisites were satisfied.
Preserve the model context before searching for hardware
Record the throttle state, relevant pressure/temperature information and sensor-fault status around the event. The source headings distinguish engine/sensing architectures, so the generic code does not establish one universal PCV layout.
The monitor does not identify a failed hose, valve, seal or manifold from the calculated mass-flow value alone. Verification must use the vehicle’s intake and PCV diagnostic procedure to establish whether the inferred leak is credible and where any actual leakage occurs.
