P2426 is the low control-circuit classification for the EGR cooling-valve actuator in Ford’s diesel monitor. It appears under short-circuit checking, while P2425 is listed separately as open load. A generic statement that the cooling valve “does not work” loses that electrical distinction.
Electrical direction is not cooling performance
The short-circuit monitor executes continuously and lists two seconds to register a malfunction. The source does not give a measured exhaust-temperature change or coolant-flow threshold as the criterion for P2426.
The paired P2427 entry represents the high circuit category. Preserving low versus high remains important before selecting a test; the summary does not supply enough detail to identify a physical fault path merely from the direction label.
Keep command and circuit evidence together
A useful record retains the exact code, actuator command, relevant electrical observations and any separate cooling or EGR flow faults. A valve that moves at another time does not demonstrate that an intermittent circuit condition never occurred.
Ford does not disclose a universal low-voltage cutoff, connector pin or test resistance for P2426 here. The applicable circuit and actuator information must establish the actual monitored path and localize the problem. The code alone cannot determine whether a valve, harness or control output is defective, and it does not justify replacing the EGR cooler because cooling effectiveness is suspected.
