P2715: GR10 clutch C4 retains hydraulic holding pressure when released

P2715 detects a hydraulically stuck-on C4 pressure-control function during a qualified transmission shift.

Documented application

2025 GM 25OBDG04B diagnostic parameter file; the cited monitor is documented, but individual vehicle, engine and calibration applicability has not been established.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P2715 is pressure-control solenoid D stuck on. In the cited GR10 strategy it applies to clutch C4 and detects hydraulic holding when the solenoid is electrically functional but the clutch should release. Low off-going clutch slip is the key evidence.

Why near-zero slip can be wrong

An applied clutch normally holds with little slip. During release, however, C4 slip should increase. The monitor fails below 50 rpm for the stated power-down and other shift branches, or below 100 rpm during garage shifts. Base fault times depend on shift type, with additional offsets and exhaust delays; the base number alone is not total detection time.

The supporting C4 closed-throttle-downshift table changes exhaust allowance with fluid temperature, from 1.6 seconds at −40°C to 0.85 seconds at 30°C and 110°C. Those are examples from that branch, not a universal shift specification. Reporting is Type A, one trip.

Diagnostic interpretation

Review C4 release command, calculated slip, shift type and fluid temperature together. An electrical continuity test alone cannot rule out a hydraulic stuck-on condition. Conversely, invalid shaft-speed inputs can invalidate the slip calculation and inhibit this diagnosis.

Verification needs the appropriate qualified release event and completed monitor. The table does not justify reproducing unintended deceleration on public roads or replacing a solenoid without professional hydraulic diagnosis.
