P2815: pressure-control solenoid G circuit shorted to supply
P2815 checks the documented solenoid G control function for an electrical short-to-voltage condition.

Documented application
2025 GM 25OBDG04B diagnostic parameter file; the cited monitor is documented, but individual vehicle, engine and calibration applicability has not been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2815 identifies a high electrical fault for solenoid G in the cited 25OBDG04B transmission row. Its mapping covers specified line-pressure, torque-converter or CVT mode-valve A functions according to transmission architecture. The generic letter alone is not sufficient to identify the installed component.
Controller-specific voltage feedback
The controller detects a voltage outside its acceptable circuit range and classifies a short to supply. The design specification relates that classification to impedance below 0.5 ohm between the signal and controller voltage source. It supplies no universal external pin-voltage threshold.
Failure time must exceed 0.30 seconds in a sample period exceeding 0.50 seconds. Qualification includes battery voltage between 9 V and 32 V for more than one second, an eligible run/crank or accessory state, calibration enablement and an energized mapped high-side driver. Reporting is Type A, one trip.
Scope matters during diagnosis
This article uses the 04B monitor; the code must not be applied to another controller using its letter designation alone. Confirm architecture and compare driver feedback with the actual wiring procedure. A high commanded hydraulic pressure is not evidence of the electrical power short described here.
Verification requires the qualified short-to-voltage check to complete without failure. Do not perform resistance checks on live circuitry or replace a transmission assembly solely from this summary.
Source and application limits
This explanation covers the cited 2025 GM monitor. Confirm the vehicle and calibration in its service information before applying these limits; inclusion in this file does not establish model compatibility. GM diagnostic parameters, PDF page 2288.
