Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD summary, July 16, 2024 revision; only the described monitor and architecture. Model, engine and calibration fitment are not inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2B64 identifies a pump-control overtemperature classification in Ford’s auxiliary pump B section. The detailed representation is P261A_98. This concerns the pump control system’s reported thermal condition; it is not automatically proof that engine coolant temperature is excessive.
Keep the thermal quantity separate from entry conditions
The shared pump monitor is continuous, lists five seconds and requires at least 11 V battery voltage. The battery value is an eligibility condition, not a temperature limit. The summary does not publish a numerical thermal threshold for P2B64.
A normal coolant reading therefore cannot by itself dismiss a control-system overtemperature report, and a hot coolant reading does not establish that this particular internal classification occurred. The relevant measured or reported thermal quantity must be identified from the vehicle-specific information.
A printed A/B mismatch limits component assignment
The source’s heading and P261A code family identify pump B, while the P2B64 description prints pump A. This article preserves that unresolved mapping rather than selecting a physical pump by assumption.
Retain the complete identifier, reported temperature status, commanded operation and related pump faults. A later cooled condition does not recreate a thermal event. The source does not identify the heat source, prescribe a cooling-system repair or justify external heating to reproduce the fault. Verification must follow the applicable pump-control procedure and its actual thermal criteria.
