P051D: High crankcase-pressure sensor voltage does not prove high physical pressure
Interpret Ford P051D analog circuit monitoring and distinguish it from crankcase-pressure rationality and PCV hose tests.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
Ford defines P051D as the analog crankcase-pressure sensor A circuit-high result. The cited monitor uses a signal above 4.56 volts with a five-second monitoring duration. The code identifies an electrical range problem before it establishes any particular mechanical pressure condition.
Avoid converting a faulted signal into a pressure diagnosis
A scan tool may display a pressure derived from the sensor signal, but an out-of-range electrical input cannot automatically be trusted as actual crankcase pressure. The source provides a separate range/performance code for pressure and offset plausibility.
It also documents digital SENT sensors with different diagnostic patterns. Confirm the installed architecture before applying the analog voltage boundary or selecting a circuit test.
Check the implications for PCV monitoring
The following ventilation hose-disconnect check requires healthy crankcase-pressure sensing. If the high-circuit result is active, a missing or questionable hose-test result may reflect invalid prerequisites rather than a proven hose condition.
Retain the full DTC set, signal state and monitor completion information. The summary does not assign the fault to a particular wire, sensor element or controller, and it does not provide a universal connector layout. Verification should establish a credible analog signal under the relevant conditions, followed by valid operation of the dependent pressure and ventilation monitors. Simply clearing P051D or seeing one normal pressure sample does not reproduce the continuous circuit check.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
