Documented application
Documented monitors in gm-2025-03a, model year 2025. These are module/calibration examples; vehicle, engine and transmission applicability must be confirmed independently.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P062F concerns nonvolatile-memory performance, commonly labeled EEPROM error. The cited ECM and EBCM examples use different checks, so the reporting module is indispensable context.
ECM startup versus brake-controller checks
The ECM runs two checks at controller powerup: one reports that writing nonvolatile memory at shutdown will not succeed, and the other reports failed assembly-calibration integrity. An event detected at startup can thus describe an inability to preserve data later, not only a failed read at that instant.
The EBCM rows under P062F describe an unwritable position-sensor-related memory item, invalid or unsupported stored motor configuration, and excessive write/erase requests within a defined period. The P0603 memory-read rows lower on the same page belong to a different code and should not be silently added to P062F.
Diagnostic decisions
Establish the module and whether the available evidence concerns write capability, calibration integrity or stored configuration. These distinctions affect the appropriate service path; the generic EEPROM label does not identify one interchangeable repair.
The ECM example is Type B over two trips, while the EBCM example lists Type A over one trip. Do not assume identical warning behavior across modules. Brake-controller diagnosis requires the correct professional process. Verification should exercise the relevant startup or ongoing memory test after the specified repair or setup, rather than relying only on clearing the fault or observing normal engine operation.
