P0833: The documented clutch switch result is stuck low, not a sensor-voltage test
Interpret Ford P0833 switch monitoring with the correct state logic and repeated-event requirements.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the documented monitor variants. No individual model, engine or calibration fitment inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
In Ford's cited clutch pedal switch strategy, P0833 is the stuck-low result. The generic code description may be broader, so retaining the source's specific failure category helps avoid confusing a switch-state diagnosis with an analog position-sensor problem.
Low does not identify pedal position without the circuit logic
The summary does not provide a universal relationship between electrical low and pedal pressed or released. That relationship must come from the actual vehicle's wiring and switch arrangement. Preserve both the expected state sequence and the observed sequence before selecting a component.
Ford lists continuous monitoring but requires more than 40 clutch applications while driving at different speeds. One low reading at rest, or one successful pedal transition, is not equivalent to that complete evaluation.
Keep comparison and sensor faults separate
The same table uses P0704 for continuous switch comparison, while later rows describe clutch-position sensor low/high and correlation faults with sub-second detection. These checks answer different questions and use different timing.
P0833 is listed as non-MIL. Its absence from a warning lamp display therefore does not prove that the monitored switch state is healthy. Use the matching service procedure to establish why the state remains low and to verify correct transitions across eligible events. The source does not support bypassing an interlock or automatically replacing a switch from the code alone.
Source and applicability
This explanation covers the cited Ford monitor variants, not every vehicle displaying this code. Match the engine, sensor architecture and calibration before applying numerical limits.
